Evaluation of the nutrient composition and hepatotoxic potential of Thaumatococcus danielli

The aim of this work was to evaluate the nutritional and hepatotoxic potential leaf T. danielli. Freshly harvested leaves danielli dried at room temperature, ground fine powder. 500 g powdered plant sample soaked in 2 litres 70% methanol for 72 hrs. resulting extract filtered filtrate concentrated. Twenty adult male albino rats were divided into 4 groups 5 per group. · Group I: Normal control fed with only normal rat diet water ad libitum. II: Rats administered 200 mg/kg b.w T.danielli orally. III: 400 IV: 600 Nutrient composition determined using standard procedures. proximate analysis on said revealed presence moisture, ash, fat, protein, fibre carbohydrate fat being more abundant (17.30±1.28%) than every other components least (8.29±0.20%).
